College Rugby Recruiting

Rugby
Rugby is rapidly growing in popularity throughout the U.S. at both the high school and collegiate level. Only a small percentage of high school participants are determined enough to pursue and engage in the college rugby recruiting process and try earn a scholarship to an NCAA, NAIA, or Junior College institution. Women’s Rugby is rapidly moving toward becoming an NCAA sanctioned sport that will be able to offer athletic scholarships in the future. While it is not yet an NCAA sanctioned sport there are many programs that are now recognizing college rugby as a varsity sport and have begun to designate funding through their respective institutions to support these college rugby programs operations. Many Universities may also help teams with access to training and competition facilities and financial help to cover various expenses. Rugby scholarships include a variety of offerings from tuition grants, dues or fee waivers, or in-state tuition rates for out-of-state students.
Do Your PartThe only one who can guarantee you any funding toward a college rugby scholarship are the coaches themselves. Using a recruiting service such as CCR assists the recruitment process through our proven method of working with high school athletes pursuing college rugby but even then there are certain things that CCR cannot control like your physical and academic development. Therefore, to give yourself the best chance of earning a college rugby scholarship means that you, as the athlete, must work hard and do your part to make yourself the best prospect available by also working as hard as you can in the classroom to earn the best grades you can. That doesn’t mean you have to earn perfect marks in all your classes or standardized testing; but in the same way you push yourself in the weight room, on the field, or the track to prepare yourself physically, you must bring the same dedication to your studies and trying just as hard to be your best academically. As well, since rugby is not yet sanctioned as an NCAA sport, as long as an athlete can gain acceptance to the University they can be eligible to receive possible funding from the program.

Gaining a College Coach’s Attention with a Captivating Highlight VideoThe reality of film is the better quality your tape is, the easier it is for a coach to see what you’re doing on the field, which may make it easier for them to recruit you and potentially offer you a scholarship. College coaches spend countless hours watching film from thousands of rugby prospects from around the world. As a college rugby recruit, you should designate someone in your support system to film you at games which can be used to create a highlight tape of your best plays. While you could send a college coach an unsolicited DVD or YouTube link that may or may not get watched, CCR helps rugby athletes by recommending possible edits to your film to help you create your best highlight tape possible and by providing validation because it is being sent from our team of trusted recruiting specialists that will actually be viewed by a college coach.
